Nate Drew receives McKenzie Prize in recognition for outstanding academic work

It is my pleasure to announce the 2024 McKenzie Prize winner: Nate Drew. The McKenzie prize is awarded each year to a College student for outstanding academic work in Germanics classes and in the Capstone project. Nate is a double major in Germanic Studies and Environmental and Urban Studies, whose thesis, Between Tradition and Innovation: Balancing Architectural and Societal Heritage Through Conscious Stewardship of Garden Cities Since 1903, was advised in German by Prof. Margareta Ingrid Christian. For the thesis, Nate conducted original research at the Letchworth Garden City in England and the Falkenberg Estate in Berlin, Germany and shows how both sites have negotiated between preservation and innovation since their founding.
