Link: Join the Kim-Park Program for a hands-on ink blot art workshop led by Catriona MacLeod
April 15, 1:00 - 3:00 | Regenstein Library
Did you know that, before the Rorschach test that became famous in the early twentieth century as a guide to human psychology - ten inkblots on card that became the most interpreted visual works of the century - Romantic artists experimented with creating their own blot works as conduits to the spirit world? So popular did this activity become, that the Victorians invented a parlor game called Blotto.
In this workshop, Catriona MacLeod will give a brief introduction to the history and significance of this murky but playful pastime. Armed with some basic materials - paper and ink - we’ll experiment with creating our own Klecksographien, as the German author Justinus Kerner dubbed his creations.
All workshop materials will be provided.
